Jim Files, CPA
Jim began his career in public accounting in 1984, and he joined the firm in 2003. Throughout his career, he has provided sound and creative tax planning and consulting services tailored to meet the needs of his clients.
Jim has worked extensively with both individuals and business entities of all types. His professional experience includes working with clients operating in a variety of industries and tax jurisdictions, both domestic and international. During fully eight years of his professional career, Jim served on overseas assignment in Switzerland where he provided U.S. tax planning and consulting services to U.S. businesses and individuals operating outside the U.S. as well as to non-US companies and individuals with interests in the U.S. His responsibilities at the firm are primarily focused on providing sound tax planning, consultation and compliance services to a diverse group of the firm's clients.
In order to provide the highest level of professional service, Jim believes that the development of a long-term and trusted working relationship with the client is, perhaps, the most important factor. The development of these relationships is Jim's foremost goal. To that end, Jim strives to listen to and understand the client's specific needs and expectations and then to fully meet those needs and continuously exceed the client's expectations.
In 1984 Jim earned a Bachelor of Science with majors in Accounting and Economics as well as a Master of Science in Accounting (emphasis in Taxation) from Oklahoma State University. He is a CPA, licensed in Texas, and a member of the Texas Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. During his career he has published articles on technical issues in U.S. and international taxation and served as a guest speaker on U.S. tax issues at the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw, Poland as well in other professional forums. Jim is active in several community organizations in Dallas.
